ENDORSEMENT RELEASE - Candiase B. Driver Published in The Virginian-Pilot on October 21, 2026

I strongly endorse Candiase B. Driver for the Ward 4 seat on the Norfolk School Board. At a time when schools need steady, student-centered leadership, Driver offers invaluable experience across nearly every level of public education, from classroom support to the principal’s office. She understands both the broad challenges facing schools and the myriad details that drive students’ success.

When I served as superintendent, I recommended Driver to lead P.B. Young Sr. Elementary School because I knew she would combine instructional leadership with a commitment to the whole child and meaningful community partnership. Her exemplary NPS service as a prekindergarten paraprofessional, teacher, teacher specialist and assistant principal had already earned my confidence. Under her leadership, the once struggling school has achieved full accreditation. That accomplishment reflects high expectations, strong support for teachers and staff, engaged families and a disciplined focus on student achievement. Driver seeks to serve, not simply pursue a title, status or political power. She brings sound judgment, practical expertise and a record of translating commitment into measurable progress. She will ask the right questions, understand what schools need to thrive and have the courage to keep children at the center of every decision, no matter what.

Norfolk’s students deserve School Board leadership grounded in experience, proven results and an unwavering commitment to children. Driver would bring all three to the boardroom. I urge Ward 4 voters to choose experienced, accountable and genuinely student-centered leadership by voting for Candiase B. Driver.
